Sea Kayaking Excursion

Start a new adventure and join the Untethered community in the enchanting setting of the Pacific Northwest.

Trip Overview

On this trip you can expect to see incredible wildlife (think: seals, starfish, bald eagles), and unreal sunsets. We kayak along the unparalleled Washington coast and make camp on pristine island beaches.

This trip includes a 3-day, 2-night kayaking excursion, so you’ll get to fully immerse yourself in Washington’s incredible coastal ecosystem.

No experience is required for this trip, making it the perfect option for those looking to gain a new skill or simply try something new. You can expect a full, concierge-style service with a generous learning curve that moves at your own pace.

We provide you with equipment that’s made specifically for women, so you don’t have to worry about buying new gear if this is your first adventure. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks are supplied each day. Because nothing goes better with a beach campfire than tasty campfire-grilled food.

Itinerary

Day 1

Welcome! One of our guides picks you up either at the Seattle airport or at your hotel if you arrive a day early. After a casual meet-and-greet, our guides drive everyone the 2 hours to our first campground near Bellingham, Washington. That night we have a welcome dinner with a quick orientation: gear familiarization, safety briefing.

Day 2

We have breakfast at our campground and then pack up our gear, heading on a short ferry ride to our Kayak launch site. After a welcome and briefing from our kayak guides, we set out on the first day of our paddle. We will be camping for the next 2 nights on remote island beaches.

Day 3

After breakfast, we will head out on our 2nd day of paddling, where we hope to see starfish, seals, and the awesomely dynamic ecosystems that exist on the Washington Coast. After a day of exploration, we head back to our campgrounds for our final dinner in the islands.

Day 4

After enjoying our last remote breakfast, we pack up camp and paddle back to where we launched from. Once we reach the pull-out spot, we bid farewell to our kayak guides and start our 2-hour drive back to Seattle. For the last night on your Untethered Expeditions adventure, everyone stays in a lodge-style hotel (yes, that means a hot shower). This hotel is a real treat! Finally, our group has a farewell dinner in a restaurant out on the town- not to be missed! It will likely become another great memory from your trip.

Day 5

Breakfast is included, and transfers to area hotels or SeaTac airport will commence. This day is entirely flexible to work with everyone's departures. Some like to add a day or 2 to their itinerary to explore Seattle, so keep in mind we can transfer you downtown if you choose!

FAQs

You’ve got questions and we’ve got answers! If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out to info@untetheredexpeditions.com.

  • One of your guides will pick you up at the airport or hotel if you arrived a day early, and drive you and the rest of your group to the first campsite in the front country.

  • We ask that you are in the Seattle-area or SeaTac airport ready for pickup no later than 1 PM on Day 1 because we leave shortly after. We highly recommend arriving in Seattle the day before your trip start date in order to avoid any hiccups or travel delays—we cannot delay the trip if your flight gets canceled the day-of.

  • We got you! We provide a majority of the gear/equipment so that you can take the guesswork out of this process. This includes tents, women-specific backpacks and sleeping bags, sleeping pads, a drybag for your personal items and clothes, and all camp-cooking equipment. We offer a trip-specific list of recommended additional items that we do not include such as personal clothing, water bottles or hydration packs, hiking boots, etc. Every item on the additional gear list will have examples and links of how to choose them and where to find them.

  • The Olympic National Park adventure is built for beginners! No prior experience traversing the outdoors is required. But if you’re an experienced outdoor enthusiast, this trip will be fun too.

  • We spend two days and two nights in the backcountry.
